AFL-CIO Community Services would like to announce our 2nd annual “Christmas in July” fundraiser. The event will support current programs in a variety of ways. The first is an overall toy drive for the Adopt-A-Family program, which is described below. Additional events will be held throughout the month to raise funds to support the remaining agency programs, including the Help Me Hotline, Soles for Christ Shoe Program, Cinderella’s Closet and Lions Club Eyeglasses. Each event is explained in detail below.
Toy Drive: June 30 (launch) – July 31st – Toys will be used in our Adopt-A-Family Christmas Program gift room. For every toy of a $10 value or more or equivalent cash donation, donors are given a ticket. At the end of the month, a $500 grand prize winner will be drawn from the tickets. Second place will get a $100 K-Mart gift card; while third will get a $50 gift card as well. Toys will be accepted the entire month at all events and daily at the office, 1203 North 6th Street.
Trivia Night: July 12th – Come test your knowledge at our holiday trivia contest. The holiday trivia contest. And don’t worry, the topics are holiday themed – not all of the questions are about Christmas. Registration begins at 5:30 pm with the game starting at 7 pm, Callison Hall, 1222 South 10th St. Each player is $15, with a 10 person per team maximum. Teams can bring their own refreshments and there will be items available as well.
Mustangs Night: July 19th – Come out and cheer the Mustangs on (hopefully to their next championship title) at their last home game of the season. Game time is 7 pm. Tickets are $7 and for every ticket purchased, our agency receives $3. Tickets must be purchased from our agency, 1203 North 6th Street, 8 to 5, Monday through Friday. Santa will be there to throw out the first pitch and to take photos with the kids.
Scavenger Hunt: July 26th – You may think you know your way around St Joseph, but this scavenger hunt list may even stump you! Bring a digital camera and four of your friends and join in the fun! Registration starts at 5 pm, and the hunt begins at 6 pm at Callison Hall, 1222 South 10th Street. $15 per person, five-person team limit. Must have your own camera and transportation to participate.
Christmas in July Community Clothes Closet Sale: July 31st – The Community Clothes Closet will have lots of Christmas decorations and house wares all at unbelievable prices. The raffle winners will be drawn at our Christmas in July sale. (Need not be present to win.)
